Inger Hendry is a registered paediatric nurse with 20 years clinical paediatric nursing experience. Inger joined the Child Nurse Practice Development Initiative as a lecturer nine years ago, and recently took a two year break from teaching to complete the Master of Nursing degree in Child Nursing, returning to teaching in 2018. Inger trained at Addington Hospital in Nursing (General, Community, Psychiatry) and Midwifery and then obtained a Bachelor of Nursing and a Postgraduate Diploma in Child Nursing at UCT. She later obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic Nursing from the University of the Free State. Inger previously worked as a senior professional nurse mostly in the Trauma unit at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. Inger also has seven years’ experience of working in a district hospital as a forensic nurse clinician. Inger is a passionate nurse clinician and teacher, who values being able to relate to people honestly. She enjoys solving problems and is not intimidated when things around her do not work. Inger strongly believes in creating an environment in which sick children and their families can obtain the best care possible.
